HOW IT ALL
STARTED

Two friends. One dream. Forty years of doing it right, for you.

Started By Two Friends.
Built For You.

Outrageous Audio was born from the friendship of two close friends, Rob and Blane, who shared a passion for music and electronics. In the early days, there was barely a business. Back then, car audio wasn't even a thing.

Friends started asking for custom speaker enclosures, and soon they were building boxes out of Rob's garage. Word spread fast, building by hand, with a lot of unhappy neighbors. After demonstrating the whole neighborhood block, they placed a single ad in Mini Truckin' magazine.

The design featured midrange speakers rising up over the back seat. It was bold, powerful, and completely original, just like everything they built back then.

OUR LOGO & STATEMENT

Outrageous
Was The Name.

Blane was the wild advertiser. Rob was the numbers guy. Together, they made the perfect team.

The very first day that ad hit worldwide, orders flooded in and it was overwhelming. They didn't know it at the time, but Outrageous Audio had become a household name. Their warehouse in Boring, Oregon (that's right, Boring) became their base. On a whim, they put a sign on the front of the building... and everything changed.

"Blane was the advertiser. Rob was the numbers guy. Together, they made the perfect team. The very first day their ad hit, the phones didn't stop."

Outrageous Audio Showroom

The first showroom, SE Stark St

AT FIRST THE SHOWROOM DID NOT BUY MUCH

But Eventually,
The World Took Notice.

Eventually, they opened up a store at 93rd and Stark, signing a long term lease because they felt they wanted it.

At first the showroom did not buy much, but eventually the big audio warehouse took notice. It took a few advertisements, but eventually everything clicked.

Now, decades later, with just one location, Outrageous Audio has become a powerhouse. They've earned awards from KENWOOD, KICKER, and more, recognized time and again for what they truly care about: their customers.

Blane and Rob built Outrageous Audio from the ground up, and intentionally kept it as one store. Here's what Blane always says:

"Stop by anytime and you'll be treated like family, not a number. Whether you're into the latest gear or just passing through, no pressure and no stress. And that's what makes Outrageous Audio so special."

ROB'S APARTMENT

Every Box
Built By Hand.

Every one of our first speaker boxes was built right in Rob's apartment. Look closely and you'll see boxes stacked everywhere, the old staple gun we used to finish the carpet, and that white speaker paper we used to hide the orange shag carpet by hand before sending the photos off for ads.

It was so scrappy, messy, and absolutely unforgettable.

"We didn't have anything fancy. Just passion, a staple gun, and a dream. Looking back, those were some of the best days of our lives."

The Twin Tower.
A Legend Is Born.

This is the first photo ever taken of the Twin Tower, shot in Bab's Yard in 1987. This iconic build became a symbol of what Outrageous Audio stood for: boldness, passion, and zero compromise on sound quality.

It's one of the earliest pieces of proof that Rob and Blane weren't just building speaker boxes. They were building a legacy.
